Suburban FC Staff

Jessie Burgins   Director of Soccer Operations

Jessie comes to us from Ottawa, Ontario where he served as the Director of Soccer Operations for Ottawa TFC, a Youth National Licensed Club through the Canadian Soccer Association. Jessie has roots in Nova Scotia, having received his Bachelor of Human Kinetics and played varsity soccer at St. Francis Xavier University. Jessie has extensive leadership experience, having held the role of Executive Director and many high level soccer administrative positions. Jessie is a National B licensed coach and is currently obtaining his National A and Youth License.

Melissa Gaudet   Youth and Senior Development Manager

From Halifax, Nova Scotia, Melissa is a longtime coach within the Suburban Region. Melissa brings experience both as a former National Team player, as well as strong coach, employee and volunteer within our community. Melissa recently graduated with an MBA and is ready to bring her experience, skills and passion to all Youth and Senior players at Suburban FC.

Josh Slate   Grassroots Development Manager

Josh is a Halifax native, having played soccer in the community during his youth. Josh earned a Bachelor's in Kinesiology from Dalhousie University while also using his time to pursue his love for coaching. He has been coaching with Suburban since 2014 and was the Technical Director for Soctia Soccer Club and Central FC. Josh also coaches for the Provincial program and Whitecaps Academy here in Halifax as a staff and goalkeeper coach. Josh is a National B licensed coach, a learning facilitator for community coaching courses and is currently in pursuit of the National Goalkeeper's License.


Graham Ashworth   Youth & Senior Development Manager

Graham has been working with soccer in Nova Scotia for several years and comes to us with a multitude of coaching experience, having coached for UDFC and the Nova Scotia Provinicial Program. He played for the University of New Brunswick's Men's Soccer team while earning a Bachelor of Economics degree. Graham also played for Churchill Arms FC (PEI), and was a part of the team that won the 2010 National Championship. Graham is currently working to obtain his National Youth License.


Mikayla Nassy-Wong   Club Manager

Mikayla comes to us from Toronto, Ontario, having played youth soccer before going on to play varsity at Upper Iowa University. There she obtained a Bachelor of Psychology with honours before moving on to obtain her Masters in Sport Leadership at Northern State University. Mikayla has a broad range of experience in sport management, from collegiate athletic compliance and administration to youth program management as a director.

Emmery Bureau   Suburban Simbas Coordinator

Emmery is a Halifax native, currently pursuing her degree in sociology from St. Francis Xavier University. Emmery grew up playing soccer in the community and began coaching during the later years of her playing career. Emmery has been working with Suburban for a few years and is a C licensed coach. After completing her degree from St. FX, she has plans to pursue teaching.
