Jessie Burgins Executive Director 
     
 

Jessie comes to us from Ottawa, Ontario where he served as the Director of Soccer Operations for Ottawa TFC, a Youth National Licensed Club through the Canadian Soccer Association.

Jessie has roots in Nova Scotia, having received his Bachelor of Human Kinetics and played varsity soccer at St. Francis Xavier University.

Jessie has extensive leadership experience, having held the role of Executive Director and many high level soccer administrative positions. Jessie is a Canadian National 'B' licensed coach and is currently obtaining his Canadian National A and Youth Licenses.

Ollie Hewish   Director of Soccer & Program Operations
     
 
Oliver 'Ollie' Hewish joined Suburban FC from his previous role as Technical Director of Development Programs at United FC. Ollie, born in North London, UK, was raised just outside of Ottawa in Carp, Ontario.
After a youth career with West Ottawa Soccer Club, Ollie moved out east to Nova Scotia to play university soccer for the St. Francis Xavier University X-Men. Graduating with a degree in Kinesiology, Ollie became the Technical Coordinator for Highland FC as well as taking on the role of Associate Head Coach with both the Men's and-Women's soccer programs at St. FX. Ollie is also involved with Nova Scotia provincial teams and Regional Excel Programs (REX). Prior to joining us, Ollie had been serving as the Interim Head Coach of the Men's program at St. FX, where he took the team to a 4-0 record and led them into the top 10 of the National USPORTS Rankings.
Ollie currently holds his Canadian National 'C' License, and is currently completing his National Childrens & 'B' Licneses. Ollie brings a wealth of knowledge and understanding for the game and is one of the most promising young leaders in Atlantic Canada today.

Graham Ashworth   Director of Player Development
     
 

Graham has been working with soccer in Nova Scotia for several years and comes to us with a multitude of coaching experience, having coached for UDFC and the Nova Scotia Provinicial Program.

Graham played for the University of New Brunswick's Men's Soccer team while earning a Bachelor of Economics degree. Graham also played for Churchill Arms FC (PEI), and was a part of the team that won the 2010 National Championship.

Graham is currently finishing up his Canadian National Youth License & has started his National 'B' licence.

Rachel Tooth Director of Member Services
     
 

Rachel took over all Club Administrator duties that were previously managed by Mikayla Nassy-Wong. In her role as Director of Member Services, she oversees all office management and registrations. 

Prior to joining Suburban, Rachel graduated from St Francis Xavier University with a Kinesiology Honours Degree where she also managed both the X-Men & X-Women Varsity Soccer programs for 3.5 years. 

Rachel brings a wealth of experience in both management & athletics and is a great asset to our Suburban Staff!

Josh Slate    Head Goalkeeper Coach & Media Director
     
 

Josh is a Halifax native, having played soccer in the community during his youth. Josh earned a Bachelor's in Kinesiology from Dalhousie University while also using his time to pursue his love for coaching. He has been coaching with Suburban since 2014 and was the Technical Director for Soctia Soccer Club and Central FC. Josh also coaches for the Provincial program and Whitecaps Academy here in Halifax as a staff and goalkeeper coach. Josh is a National B licensed coach, a learning facilitator for community coaching courses and is currently in pursuit of the National Goalkeeper's License.

Ioan Florean   Club Staff & Simbas Lead Coach
     
 

 

loan Florean, born in a small town in Romania, is joining Suburban FC from his previous role with Dunbrack soccer club. loan started playing sports since he could walk, developing a strong passion for soccer along the way. A well-rounded athlete, loan started playing soccer at age 13, reaching as far as playing professionally for clubs in Europe such as Sevilla FC. loan continued playing and coaching upon his move to Canada.

loan is a National B level coach and has a wealth of coaching knowledge from coaching teams in Europe and Canada, even holding high level technical positions with youth clubs and as a coach for the provincial soccer program. Ioan is currently completing his National Youth & Childrens licences with the Canadian Soccer Association.

Most recently, Ioan was appointed as the Head Coach for the Men's Soccer Team at Mount Saint Vincent University (MSVU). Ioan is Staff Coach for all programs with Suburban!
